I’m excited to announce the start of a new writing group February 1!

This six-month program is designed to help you make real progress on a specific project. It could be a memoir, a novel, a series of blogs, a book to use as a foundation for a speaking or coaching career, a collection of stories to share with your family or friends—or a project with another purpose.

Whatever your goal, this group will help you become clearer and more focused about your content and structure, build your writing skills, and receive coaching and motivation to move you from where you are to where you want to be in six months.

Here’s what to expect:

When you register, I’ll ask you to send me a brief synopsis of your project, along with any initial writing you’d like to discuss. This will give us a great starting point. We’ll meet one-on-one in February to set goals and a direction for what you want to achieve in the next six months. During that meeting, I’ll also give you feedback on the writing you’ve provided.

Each month, we’ll have a 90-minute one-on-one coaching session. This time is totally focused on you and your project. I’ll give you detailed feedback on the writing you sent me that month, including notes about content development, structure, dialogue, storytelling techniques and more, all customized to your work.

Two of the most important things to come out of these sessions are your growing abilities as a writer and a chance to really dig into the “why” of your writing. Are you conveying the message you want to share? Is there something deeper that you want your readers to know? These are the questions that turn ordinary words into transformational stories, both for you and your readers.

Also each month, we’ll meet as a group to critique one another’s writing. This, too, is priceless, because it gives you a chance to receive constructive comments from everyone in the group—most of whom are probably very much like your future readers.

I can’t overstate how important it is to be a part of an ongoing writing community that gets to know you, the history of your project and your goals. You’ll be part of a group that cares about your success and wants to help you achieve it.

You’ll receive weekly emails with skill-building information, writing prompts and inspiration. Some are short and to the point—quick tips and quotes to keep you on track and motivated. Others dig into a particular element of writing, such as this email about writing a book introduction.

We’ll have a half-day writing workshop on a date that works for the group. This is all about skill-building, marking your progress, setting new goals for the rest of the six months, and delving even deeper into the craft and practice of writing.

You’ll be paired with another person in the group as a writing buddy. The two of you will connect at least once a week—even if it’s for a quick phone conversation—to check in and keep one another accountable and motivated.

And…membership in this group gives you a 10% discount on my next writing retreat (date to be determined). These weekend and one-day retreats are great getaways to focus on your project, relax in a beautiful setting and get to know yourself as a writer.

This format gives you several valuable things:

  • Deadlines. One of my favorite quotes about writing is, “Without deadlines, nothing would get done at all.” We all need accountability to keep us motivated, so deadlines are built into the six months through the individual coaching times, group sessions and buddy system.
  • Insightful, customized feedback. To me, you’re more than a writer. You’re a messenger. We can mine the gold in you and your story together.
  • Guidance not just on your writing, but on the direction you want to go, whether you see your book as part of a new business venture or a gift to your family.
  • New writing partners and friends. Invariably, getting to know each other as writers translates into friendships and strong bonds.
  • Self growth. Truly, writing and life are the same thing. As we write our stories, we learn about who we really are…which helps us write more powerful stories and grow even more. This is a chance to step into a greater understanding of you with loving support along the way.

The group works best when there are four to six people so we can maximize the amount of feedback you’ll get in the monthly group sessions. I set the price at $200 a month to cover my time reading and critiquing your work, then meeting with you for your 90-minute session. This means that the rest of the program—the monthly group sessions, the half-day workshop, the weekly emails, etc.—are all a bonus.

And the most important thing is, you’ll get your writing done!

It’s your willingness to show up with all your honesty and wisdom and courage that makes this experience priceless. It really is about heart and soul. Ultimately, that’s what this group is for.

So, if you have any questions, just let me know. To register, you can pay up front ($1,197) with the Buy Now button, below. Or you can pay in three installments of $415 (that makes the total $1,245 to cover the processing costs) with the Subscribe button.

If you’d rather pay by credit card or check, just email me at deb@debraengle.com. Since space is limited, please register as soon as you can.

There’s nothing more meaningful than writing your story. And it’s more satisfying, fun (and productive) if we do it together.

Hope you’ll join us. Your readers are waiting!

Warmly,

Deb
